About Us

The core mission of the American Legion is to provide support for veterans, strengthen communities, promote patriotism, and uphold a strong national defense. Its guiding principles are encapsulated in the Four Pillars:

1. Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation: Advocating for improved healthcare, disability compensation, and support for transitioning back to civilian life.
2. National Security: Supporting a strong national defense, assisting service members and their families, and promoting readiness.
3. Americanism: Fostering patriotism through flag education, youth programs, and community engagement.
4. Children & Youth: Helping children in need, including providing scholarships, promoting drug and alcohol resistance education, and protecting their well-being.

 Veteran Advocacy:

• The Legion works with Congress to ensure veterans receive benefits, including healthcare, pensions, and education.
• It has helped shape legislation such as the GI Bill.

Boys State/Girls State

• Educational programs teaching high school students about government and leadership through hands-on experiences.

Career and Education Support:

• The Legion offers resources for career development, job fairs, and educational scholarships for veterans and their families.

Auxiliary and Sub-Organizations:

• The American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, Legion Riders, Young Marines and Boy Scouts extend the mission to families and supporters.
